During World War II, the ghettos established by the Nazis were done to confine the Jews into certain tight areas. The ghettos were brutal. In Warsaw, Poland thirty percent of the population were forced to live in 2.4% of the city's area. The Jewish population was increasingly isolated, terrorised and finally deported and murdered in the concentration camps such as Auschwitz. During the German occupation of the netherlands many residents of the Jewish neighourhood were taken away to the concentration camps and killed.
The Story of my Life:
My name is Gil Feivel. I grew up in Warsaw, Poland. Life wasnt that hard at the time but as soon as Hitler gained power, everything changed. I met a beautiful girl named Carmela, and married her in my childhood synagogue. One day, me and my wife were walking through the park, and we were taken away by brawny men in black suits with the Nazi symbol on their red armband. We were taken to our homes and were given 5 minutes to pack. Once we packed, we were taken to a train station and put on a train with many other people. The train ride was very long and uncomfortable, there were so many people in just one car. when the ride was over we were escorted out. As soon as we got of the train, women and children were seperated from the men, and all babies were thrown into an inferno of fire. We were then taken to shaving stations where they shaved our heads aggressively and painfuly. They then stripped us of our street clothes and made us wear striped attire that was very thin and cold. They worked us like dogs and everyday more and more were brought to the camp and more and more were killed. My wife, Carmela, was cremated. i found out that she was cremated a whole year after the cremation happened.
